The Art of Our Ancestors
The Teverga Prehistory Park is a unique cultural facility in Europe. Located in the stunning surroundings of the Teverga Valley (San Salvador de Alesga), this park is not a conventional museum, but rather a total immersion in the art of the Upper Paleolithic.
The Cave of Caves
The heart of the park is an underground enclosure that recreates the atmosphere of a real cave. Here you will find facsimile replicas of cave paintings that, due to conservation, cannot be visited in their original locations or whose access is very restricted. You will be able to see in detail:
- The main panel of the Tito Bustillo Cave (Ribadesella).
- The bison of Altamira (Cantabria).
- The Black Room of Niaux (France).
- Horses from Candamo (Asturias).
Why visit it?
It is, in many ways, better than visiting a real cave:
- Accessibility: Fully adapted for strollers and wheelchairs.
- Lighting: Allows you to see the details of the paintings much better than in the original darkness.
- Didactics: Fire and hunting workshops for children, exhibitions about how they lived and painted.
Environment
The park also has an enclosure where you can see European bison and Przewalski horses, living species very similar to those painted by our ancestors thousands of years ago.
