The Water Park
If Redes is known as “the water park” it is for a reason. The Nalón River rises here and runs through the park, feeding vital reservoirs for Asturias. The Casa del Agua, located in Rioseco (capital of Sobrescobio), is a modern facility dedicated to explaining this vital relationship.
A River Tour
The visit simulates the water cycle and the path of a river from its source in the peaks to its mouth, focusing on the context of Alto Nalón:
- The Water Cycle: Interactive explanations about basic hydrology, perfect for children.
- Aquatic Ecosystems: You will get to know the fauna that inhabits the rivers of Redes, from trout and salmon to the elusive otter and the Iberian desman.
- Uses of Water: How man has taken advantage of the power of water throughout history (mills, hydroelectric plants).
Environment
Rioseco is a charming town. After visiting the Casa del Agua, you can take a walk along the shore of the Rioseco reservoir, where there is a very accessible bird observatory.
