The Gateway to Redes
The Interpretation and Visitor Reception Center of the Redes Natural Park is the obligatory stop before entering its forests. Located in Campo de Caso, the capital of the Caso council, this center will provide you with the keys to understand and respect this territory, declared a Biosphere Reserve.
What will you find?
The center houses a very educational permanent exhibition that covers all aspects of the park:
- Geology and Landscape: Understand how glaciers and rivers have shaped these steep valleys.
- Flora and Fauna: Interactive panels on the brown bear, the Cantabrian capercaillie (symbol of the park) and the immense beech forests that cover 40% of the territory.
- Ethnography: A sample of how human beings have adapted to this mountain environment, with traditional tools and explanations about life in the brañas.
Practical Information
It is the ideal place for:
- Request maps and route brochures.
- Check the condition of the trails (especially in winter or after heavy rain). *Book guided tours if available.
