Brañagallons

A glacial cirque converted into a mountain meadow. The heart of the Redes Natural Park.

La Vega de los Gallos de Monte

Brañagallones is one of those places that alone justify a visit to a natural park. Located at 1,225 meters above sea level, this glacial surface (ancient lake now filled in) is a natural amphitheater surrounded by peaks such as Cantu l’Osu and Peña’l Vientu.

The Refuge

In the center of the meadow is the old hunting lodge, today rehabilitated as a mountain refuge. It is an ideal place to spend the night and enjoy the silence of the night in the middle of nature.

Fauna

The name Brañagallones comes from “Braña de los Gallones” (grouse). Although it is very difficult to see them, it is their habitat. What is easy to see are chamois on the crests and deer during the rutting season (September-October), when the valley resonates with their roars.
